Maxine Dominelli
Executive Coordinator
Since joining Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility in 2007, my life has transformed in countless ways. Born with profound hearing loss, I had little understanding of hearing loss, accessibility, or available supports before becoming part of this incredible organization.
My time here has opened my world in ways I never imagined – I’ve learned basic American Sign Language (ASL), received a cochlear implant, and built countless friendships within the Hard of Hearing and Deaf community. Most importantly, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the importance of accessibility for everyone.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats at Wavefront. I’ve worked as an Employment Counsellor, Job Development Specialist, Audiometric Technician, and Manager of Client Services. Now, as an Executive Coordinator and Payroll/Benefits Specialist, I draw on these experiences to support both our team and the people we serve.
No matter the role, my favourite part has always been connecting with people. The opportunity to hear their stories, learn from their experiences, and see their resilience in action is both inspiring and humbling.
Outside of work, my three grandchildren keep me on my toes. Whether I’m cheering them on at hockey and baseball games, watching them perform with their cheerleading squads, or joining them at the playground, they are my greatest source of joy and adventure.
